Project catch up and progress!

The project team met online last week to discuss the project, updates and progress.

Richard confirmed that he had spoken at length with the Erasmus National Agency Project Manager regarding our 5-month project extension and although some dates were changed, we agreed that the extension would be approved. This gives a final project end date of January 2022.

The key dates are:

- Output 5: Prison Induction Package

End date: 24 October 2021

- Output 6: Work Package for Security

End date: 3 December 2021

- 4th Transnational Project Meeting (possibly virtual meeting TBC)

Date: September 2021

Multiplier Events:

- E1: Education resources for Learning in Belgium

Date: 10 December 2021 (or earlier date TBC)

- E2: Developing & use of AR in YOL (main project dissemination event)

Date: 14 December 2021 (or earlier date TBC)

- Both proposed virtual events

Richard confirmed that the information and processes have been uploaded to the CPIP system and will reconfirm the information.

For the staff evaluations – HMPPS had given the iPads to the staff team, with the guides for using the Zappar app and process, with a range of the AR resources to trial

- Staff and student guides

- Sample AR resources

- Staff were also given evaluation forms for the impact assessment with a series of questions regarding AR, the process, the resources, use and comments (evaluation form)

- The evaluation feedback could be written or electronically captured

- Once all feedback had been collated, a chart and feedback comments were summarised for a feedback report.

Output 6: Work Package for Security:

Richard detailed that for the project, our project output guides, and recommended approach has been completed, we are just awaiting support from Government security with an agreement to our recommendations and/or amended approach to take so that potentially our resources and devices can be used in the prison institutions for learners.

An interesting article was circulated ‘Give prisoners laptops and tablets in their cells to access education’. The Commons Education Select Committee has been told that prisoners are learning with ‘both hands tied behind their back’ due to a lack of digital access. We hope that this will assist in the digital education change that everyone is expecting!
