HMPPS Budget elements
Discussed the budget lines against each Intellectual Output for the project and numbers of working days for each Output. Darryl and Justyn understood what was needed and what work had been completed to date.
Completed and signed timesheets for Sept, Oct and Nov ’18 were received and collated.
Intellectual Output 1 &2: Quality assurance process
We discussed the work completed and looked at the quality assurance process undertaken by HMPPS for the teacher guides and AR process guide. Where possible we looked at the prison compatibility, especially with regards the pilot that will take place at HMP Hewell.
Discussion: AR Prison Induction package to develop for Hewell Pilot
We discussed what elements would be beneficial to capture as part of the AR resources for the Prison Induction package. These may include:
· The first 24 hours in the prison
· Key support mentors (poster displaying the mentor t-shirt colours, image of mentor and links to video introduction and what support they offer)
· Mental Health resource information
· Educational courses available
· Overview of prison day
· Health and Safety
· Other resources to be agreed
Richard was keen to attend the 3 day prison induction process so can witness what the current process is and which elements would be beneficial to produce as the AR information resources.
Actions:
· Justyn to organise visits to experience the 3 day induction process from 3 prisons.
Security discussion: HMPPS/Hewell and proposed process/actions
We discussed the next steps for the security process and beginning the work on this ASAP. From a prison meeting with the Governor at HMP Hewell and the security team for Ministry of Justice (MOJ) in London, it was agreed we would do the following:
· Configure one of the HMPPS project iPads with Abigail and Philip from MOJ in line with their security process and document this.
· Add the Zappar App and details for the Wi-Fi access at HMP Hewell
· Begin testing with the Learning Centre at HMP Hewell
· Test the introduction guides for Teachers and Trainers and also with Learners to test the process and also make any amendments where necessary
Actions:
· Darryl to contact Gareth the Governor at Hewell with progress and next steps
· Darryl to contact Abigail Brecht and Phillip Whittaker at MOJ to arrange a meeting to configure the iPad in line with security process and ready for the pilot project with the identified learners. This meeting to take place at HMP Hewell or MOJ in London.
iPad and case resource for pilot project
We discussed the iPads and cases which have arrived for the project.
It was agreed that Richard retain the safe keeping of the equipment until we commence the pilot at HMP Hewell.
