HMPPS catch up meeting

It was great to catch up with Her Majesty's Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) project partners as the lockdown process continues. Darryl and Richard gave an update Justyn regarding the recent webinar presentations for the Education and Training Foundation (ETF) and the Prisoner Learning Alliance (PLA).

The main focus of discussion was a possible online meeting with the Governor from HMP Swinfen Hall, Ian West. It was proposed that Justyn will make contact with Ian to see if the project team can give an online presentation about the project and proposals for the pilot at Swinfen as soon as lockdown conditions cease for the both the prison institution and young offender learners.

Post lockdown, it is proposed that Darryl and Richard will deliver an introduction training session for both Prison teachers and staff and also a session for the learners. From these session, not only is the outcome to deliver an introduction, but to gain evaluative feedback from both staff and learners to assist with the pilot phasing and subsequent use of the Augmented Reality (AR) resources developed to date.

Another important aspect will be to meet with the security and technical teams from Swinfen Hall and Novus to assist with the documentation of lockdown of the iPad devices and hot spot for the lockdown Wi-Fi access needed for the Zappar app in conjunction with the AR resources. There is a lot to continue with but the team are very much looking forward to getting back to delivering the practical accepts of the project!

This in turn, will assist our European Partners to give the recommended approaches for the devices and security process for their own prison institutional pilots.
